Kız Kalesi (Maiden Castle)
Mersin Kızkalesi is a historical and touristic region of Mersin
province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Kızkalesi is a
magnificent castle built in the 12th century, located on an islet in
the middle of the sea. This historical building can be easily seen
from both sea and land. About 200 meters from the shore, Kizkalesi
is part of a settlement known as Korykos in ancient times. According
to legend, this castle, built by the king to protect his daughter,

Kanlıdivane
Located about 3 kilometers from the Ayas town of Mersin, Kanlıdivane
is an ancient settlement and was founded as part of the Kingdom of
Olba during the Hellenistic period. Kanlıdivane takes its name from
the settlement formed around a large sinkhole, which is believed to
have been used as a place of punishment and execution in ancient
times. Among the most notable structures of the area are a large
necropolis, churches, tombs and towers. Kanlıdivane is also famous
for its large stone presses used for olive oil production.
Archaeological excavations have revealed that the area was also an
important settlement center during the Roman and Byzantine periods.

women, 2 children and a mountain goat carved into the steep rocks at
a height of about 70 meters. The reliefs offer important clues to
